The reception of the works to finalize the Constanta Casino will be signed at the end of January – first week of February, when the investment will be handed over to the Constanta City Hall, Irina Manuela Pătrășcoiu, director of the National Investment Company, the financier of the works, told „Dobrogea Live”.
The first event to be hosted by the newly renovated historical monument will be the rose edition of the world’s most important wine competition – Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, according to Dobrogea Live. The organizer of the edition, Valentin Ceafalău, told the local publication that the event is scheduled for the end of March.

Background
The Ministry of Development announced on Wednesday that the process of acceptance of completion of the works for the Constanța Casino has been started, which is „one step away from reopening”.
The rehabilitation of the Casino has been financed from the state budget, implemented by the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration, through the National Investment Company, and the completion of the reception process is estimated for the first half of February, after the thorough check of the works carried out, the testing of the restored installations, as well as the training of the staff that will ensure the maintenance of the building and technical systems, according to the ministry.
The contract for the consolidation and restoration of the Constanta Casino was signed in December 2019. At the time, Decebal Făgădău (PSD) was the mayor of Constanta, Viorica Dăncilă was the prime minister, and the minister of development was Ion Ștefan (PNL). „Following the finalization of the public procurement procedure, the association Aedificia Carpați SA – SC Remon Project SRL – SC Profesional Construct Proiectare SRL – SC Tehnoinstal SRL was declared the winner, the contract value is 56,627,697.09 lei, VAT included. The duration of the contract for the investment is 30 months (of which three months are dedicated to the design activity,” the Ministry of Development sent on January 15, 2020, according to a press release.
Thus, the consortium of companies Aedificia Carpati SA – SC Remon Proiect SRL – SC Profesional Construct Proiectare SRL – SC Tehnoinstal SRL is carrying out consolidation and restoration works on the main building (with a height of S+P+1E+M, partial bridge and access ramp to the basement), as well as on the external areas (rehabilitation of the terrace platform, utility networks, defense wall and railings).
„After the completion of the works, the Casino will be returned to the public circuit, becoming once again a cultural and entertainment center that will be able to host cultural events, symposia, exhibitions, etc., thus highlighting the most important public building realized in Art Nouveau style in our country,” said the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration in 2020.
The Constanța Casino was built according to the plans of French architect Daniel Renard, being a representative symbol of the Art Nouveau architectural movement. It features a central terrace façade supported by a wide portico, which is dominated by a fan-shaped stained-glass window. The upper part of the building stands out, decorated with architectural elements in the shape of ancient ships, ram’s heads and seaweed garlands. The building was inaugurated in the fall of 1910 and has long been a symbol of Constanța, according to Heritage Constanța.
