George Simion, the head of the extremist AUR party, was next to Teodosie or behind him during the entire Epiphany Mass, organized by the Archbishop of Tomis on Monday in Constanța.
- The presence of George Simion around Teodosie is not a surprise, and the link between the two, together with the close relationship of Diana Șoșoaca, head of the extremist party SOS, with Teodosie, is one of the explanations for the results obtained by extremist parties in Dobrogea, 40%, well above the national average, under the influence of the pro-Russian archbishop. The ISE reporter on the scene captured several images of the two of them at Teodosie’s signature mass, which has turned Epiphany into an event with which he identifies his own image, through the grandeur with which he organizes it. The mass was also attended by another AUR MP for Constanta, Cosmin Hristu.
Teodosie is a controversial figure in the Romanian Orthodox Church, isolated within the institution and part of its non-reformed, pro-Russian wing.
Moreover, Teodosie praised Călin Georgescu, the pro-Russian candidate with a legionary discourse in the November 24 presidential elections, and Vladimir Putin in a recent article in Le Figaro. Teodosie is currently under investigation by the Romanian Orthodox Church for his pro-Georgescu and pro-Putin statements and is accused of repeatedly violating the decisions of the Synod, the Romanian Orthodox Church’s supreme governing body.
Teodosie said that Georgescu is „God’s envoy”, and of Putin, who started an unprovoked bloody war in Ukraine that has been raging since February 24, 2022, he called him „a man of reconciliation”. See details here.
Teodosie has been indicted in several cases prosecuted by the DNA for corruption, but acquitted each time. He is currently on trial by anti-corruption prosecutors for buying influence after the Recorder investigation into the budget funds. See details here.
